✏️They aren't easy to write. Some may be short, but they're like poetry: concision & precision of words are important!
✏️Some kids' books – especially for younger readers – rhyme, but they don't have to. If you do use rhyme, don't sacrifice rhythm for the sake of rhyme!
✏️Feedback from a reputable in-person or online
critique group is invaluable. Often writers' conferences offer paid critiques by authors, editors, & agents too!
✏️They take time! Researching topics & markets, drafting, revising, proofreading, gaining feedback, submitting to editors & agents, attending & presenting at conferences, marketing, doing author visits, maintaining an online presence…all of it takes time, energy, effort, & perseverance!
